CHIROPRACTIC: GENTLE ALIGNMENT FOR YOUR WHOLE BODY

Movement is life. In the chiropractic tradition, we restore motion in the joints where it has been lost or restricted. This gives you increased range of motion, decreased pain, and improved function in your muscles and organs. Not only does this help you feel better in many ways, but it also helps your body become more resilient in the face of stress, injury, and illness. In other words, you bounce back a little faster.

Our doctors are trained to provide a range of different approaches—from techniques gentle enough for newborns to more dynamic adjustments for adults. Some adults prefer gentle adjustments, too—and we're happy to oblige. We’ll find just the right combination of techniques to help you live more fully. Approaches we offer include Diversified, Drop-piece, Activator, CranioSacral, and DNFT (Directional Non-Force Technique). Read more:

DNFT is a gentle, highly specific chiropractic method used by Dr. Brenna Erickson, who is the only advanced DNFT practitioner in Minnesota. Rather than using force or cracking, DNFT relies on subtle, precise testing and light-touch adjustments to help realign the body with remarkable accuracy—especially ideal for those who are highly sensitive, living with chronic pain, or have had mixed experiences with traditional chiropractic care. Read more about DNFT:

Your Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) will walk you through these options during your first visit, tailoring the approach to your comfort, history, and health goals.

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY: FACILITATING YOUR BODY’S OWN HEALING

CranioSacral Therapy is a holistic healing practice that uses very light touch to balance the CranioSacral system in the body, which includes the bones, nerves, fluids, and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area. This therapy is very gentle, subtle, and relaxing, and is done through the clothing (in contrast to therapeutic massage). It is a great way for you to center and access your innate ability to heal. CranioSacral Therapy is used to address many issues including sleep disturbance, pain, migraine, dizziness and vertigo, and much more.

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Nutrition and Functional medicine takes an evidence-informed yet individualized approach to your health. One person's skin irritation is not the same as the next person's, and so the remedy may not be the same. In fact, functional medicine prefers to treat the underlying causes of symptoms and foundational health for prevention with the following concepts in mind:

  • Each person has a unique biochemistry and may have different environmental sensitivities or requirements of nutrients.

  • Health care is more important than disease care. This means educating people to make better choices, improving the foundation of health throughout the systems, and acknowledging the body's warning signs when they appear.

  • The body has an amazing ability to adapt to stress, and pain is a poor indicator of health. Therefore, examination and tests are important tools in finding imbalance early enough to alter the outcome before a disease state sets in.

  • Each system in the body affects all the other systems in the body. For example, if hormonal dysregulation exists, it is important to properly assess all the systems in case the origin of the problem is elsewhere, such as digestion.

  • Health is not the absence of disease. It is the presence of vitality, a state of balance, a combination of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

The tools we use in functional medicine include thorough interview, physical examination, dietary assessment, laboratory analysis, and nutritional supplementation.  No two people are given the same recommendations.  If you choose to utilize this approach to healing, it is important that you follow your doctor's recommendations. If you want a pill to fix everything, this is not approach for you. Functional medicine is all about learning about your unique health status and requirements, and then taking personal responsibility for getting the best possible outcome for you. ADDITIONAL TOOLS FOR HEALING

LASER

“L.A.S.E.R. (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) is a type of intense radiation of the light spectrum. We find this FDA-approved tool to be helpful for a wide range of conditions, including pain, sprains and strains, wound healing, fracture healing, and arthritis. You can select the laser as an add-on to your visit so we can be sure to have it handy when you come in!

KT TAPE

Kinesio taping uses a special, elastic tape that’s applied directly to your skin to provide support and stability for muscles and joints. Unlike rigid athletic tape, Kinesio tape allows for full range of motion, helping to alleviate pain and improve circulation without restricting movement. It gently lifts the skin to create space between the skin and the tissues underneath, reducing pressure and improving blood flow to the affected area.

CUPPING

Cupping is a therapeutic technique where specialized cups are placed on the skin to create gentle suction. This suction promotes increased blood flow, releases fascial tension, and helps remove toxins from the body. The therapy is rooted in ancient East Asian medicine and is known for its ability to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.

GUA SHA/GRASTON

Gua sha is a traditional East Asian therapy designed to promote circulation, reduce muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing process. During a gua sha session, a skilled practitioner uses a smooth-edged tool to gently “scrape” the skin, stimulating blood flow and releasing fascia—an essential step in relieving deep-seated tension and pain.

PEMF MAT

PEMF therapy uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to stimulate and energize cells, improving their function and boosting your body’s ability to heal itself. Every cell in your body has its own electromagnetic frequency, and when cells become damaged or stressed, this frequency becomes imbalanced. PEMF therapy helps restore your cells’ natural energy, promoting better circulation, reducing inflammation, and enhancing recovery.

E-STIM

E-stim (short for electrical stimulation) uses soft, targeted electrical impulses to activate healing in muscles, fascia, and the nervous system. At Stockheart, we use microcurrent and TENS-style devices at subtle, therapeutic levels to encourage circulation, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain—while always staying within your comfort zone. This is stimulation that soothes.
